The practice I offer you today is the longest practice yet. Today, you will explore yoga nidra, also known as yogic sleep. It is the state of consciousness between waking life and sleep. It is most effective when performed before bed.
This exercise is 40 minutes long. As I mentioned above, I highly recommend making time for this practice before bed. You will sleep so peacefully and comfortably following your yoga nidra experience!
The description of the following video had this to say about yoga nidra:
The practice of yoga nidra has a number of great benefits, among these are minimizing tension, training and relaxing the mind, clearing the unconscious mind, awakening creativity, enhancing learning and memory power, counteracting stress, managing psychological disorders, improving the immune system, promoting will power and paving the way for fruitful meditation.
Yoga nidra prevents stress by inducing deep physical, emotional and mental relaxation, by training the mind to remain calm and serene and by rooting out the repressed desires and thoughts from the deeper realms of the mind.
As a science, yoga nidra awakens your inherent creativity and promotes your learning and memory abilities. Researches also indicate that yoga nidra can be used as a therapeutic technique to cure psychological disorders like anxiety, PTSD, depression, hostility, insomnia, etc. and psychosomatic diseases like asthma, coronary heart disease, cancer, hypertension, etc.
In our present modern lifestyle, where psychological and psychosomatic problems are ever on the rise, the practice of yoga nidra serves as a real boon for all mankind.
I truly hope you enjoy this practice and will benefit from it! Let me know how your experience goes.
